Too many mistakes overshadow UAB's effort in opener

BlazerSportsReport.com UAB opened the 2012 season with new coaches, a new attitude, new uniforms and a large crowd but the results were basically the same - UAB made too many mistakes, committed to many penalties, failed to come up with game-changing plays and lost the season opener to Troy 39-29 at Legion Field on Saturday.
The Blazers' new head coach Garrick McGeesaw plenty to like about his football team and said as much, but he also saw too many mistakes, and said as much.
"When it comes down to it," said McGee, "you've got to make plays. One team made them and the other team didn't.
