The UAB football team returned to the practice field on Tuesday afternoon for the first time since last Saturday's 49-42 loss to Tulsa. The Blazers were forced to work out at Legion Field due to wet conditions at the on-campus practice facility.

UAB practiced in full pads for just over two hours as the focus shifts toward a homecoming matchup against Southeastern Louisiana this Saturday.

"Today the guys came out and worked," UAB offensive line coach John Peterson said. "You have to put the last game behind you and you have to move forward. We had a full-pad practice and worked hard on techniques and the fundamentals of football. We want to get better every day."

UAB has dropped its first four games of the season to teams with a combined record of 17-3, including No. 6 South Carolina (Sept. 15) and No. 12 Ohio State (Sept. 22).

On Saturday, the Blazers square off against 2-3 Southeastern Louisiana, who comes into the contest riding a two-game winning streak. Most recently, the Lions captured a 31-21 victory at Lamar, giving Southeastern a 2-0 mark in the Southland Conference for the first time since 2009.

The Blazers will be hoping to begin their own win streak, which will be up to a UAB offense that has averaged 23.0 points and 290.2 yards in total offense a game in the four contests on the year.

However, over the past two games against the Buckeyes and Golden Hurricane, UAB has improved those numbers to 39.0 points and 370.5 yards a contest.

"The one thing that is evident is there is a long way to go in all areas and the offensive line is included," Peterson said. "We have some injuries and had some guys we had to move around into another position. That creates opportunity, but it also creates some setbacks when it comes to continuity."

UAB's homecoming game will mark the first meeting between the two schools, and is set to kickoff at 2 p.m. CT at Legion Field.
