Buzzer Beater, UAB 61 Rice 60

UAB erased a 17 point halftime deficit and defeated Rice on a last second shot by Robert Williams. Williams' shot, just before overtime expired lifted the Blazers to a 61-60 win over the Owls. The win ended a four game losing streak for the Blazers, was their first conference win and first time to score 60 points in conference play this season. The Blazers are 1-3 in conference play; the four games have been decided by a total of eight points.

Cameron Moore led UAB with a double-double. The big man scored 22 points and snagged 15 rebounds. Preston Purifoy chipped in 18 points for the Blazers. Connor Frizzelle had 17 for the Owls, he was followed by Dylan Ennis.

UAB trailed by 17 at the 16 minute mark - but chipped away and took a two point lead with 5:13 remaining. The Blazers never led by more than two in regulation. With one minute to go UAB had the ball and a two point lead - but two turnovers and a minute later the game was headed to overtime.

The Blazers scored the first four in overtime - but by the two minute mark Rice had secured a one point lead. Moore tied the game when he hit a foul shot with 52 seconds remaining. With 22 seconds left Ennis put Rice up by one; sinking the first of two but he missed the second. Moore rebounded the ball and was fouled. Moore sinks both foul shots putting the Blazers up by one with 20 seconds remaining.

Rice brings the ball into the frontcourt and finds Frizellee who nails his fifth three pointer of the night to put the Owls up by two with nine seconds remaining.

Quincy Taylor brings the ball up court and passes to Jordan Swing, the Blazer's deadliest three point shooter. Swing did not have the shot and found Williams open for the three which he nailed at the buzzer ending the Owl's hopes of getting their first win ever over UAB.

UAB outrebounded Rice 33 to 25. The Blazers continue to struggle handling the ball turning it over 16 times.

The Blazers improve to 6-11 on the season. They will play host to Central Florida Saturday at 1 at Bartow Arena.
