Blazers continue work for Ole Miss

The UAB football team continued its preparations for Saturday's non-conference contest with Ole Miss on Wednesday and for the second straight day, the Blazers practiced at Legion Field.
Rain in the Birmingham area the past few days has saturated the UAB practice fields and moved the team's workouts to Legion Field. The Blazers practiced Wednesday in a light mist for most of the session and head coach Neil Callaway didn't feel the workout was as productive as Tuesday's.

"It (practice) wasn't as good today as yesterday," said Callaway, whose team is coming off an open date last weekend. "I don't think we were as focused today or had as much energy, so we still have a lot of work to do before Saturday."
The Blazers are 2-3 on the season, coming off a 30-17 win over Southern Miss two weeks ago in their last action. Callaway knows his team has its work cut out for it heading to Oxford on Saturday.
"They're a good football team on both sides of the ball," said Callaway. "They have great athletes, great players and it's going to be challenge."
The Blazers have gone two straight games without a turnover and Callaway said that will be a key to Saturday's game. "We need to control the ball and not have turnovers," he said. "Defensively, we need to get pressure on their quarterback and slow down the running game."
Saturday's game with the Rebels is the first meeting between the schools.
