Blazers Fall to UCF, 49-24

A bevy of mistakes caused UAB to fall behind 35-10 to UCF at halftime. The Blazers second-half effort couldn't cover the deficit, and UAB lost its final game of the season 49-24.
UAB tallied more than doubled the total yards than UCF, 510-to-244. But the Blazers couldn't execute in the red zone and lost the game on the scoreboard.

UCF scored 14 points in the first quarter and added 21 more in the second period. The second-quarter scores included a 78-yard interception return on a screen pass that gave UCF a 28-3 lead.
Jonathan Perry replaced Austin Brown at quarterback after that. He hit Patrick Hearn with a 76-yard scoring pass with 1:26 remaining in the half to cut the score to 28-10. However, UCF used the time remaining to notch another touchdown, taking a 35-10 lead into the half.
The Blazers added two more touchdowns in the second half. The first came on a two-yard run by Perry, while the final score came on a 15-yard scoring pass to Darrin Reavens.
Perry was the offensive star for UAB, hitting 21-of-28 passes for 307 yards and two touchdowns. Reaves led the rushing game with 71 yards on 18 carries.
UCF quarterback Blake Bortles hit 17-of-23 passes for 225 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Q McDuffie ran for 79 yards and three scores for the Knights.
