Blazers Outpace Roadrunners

C.J. Washington posted a double-double and helped lead the UAB Blazers to a 78-65 victory over the UTSA Roadrunners at Bartow Arena on Thursday night. Washington had 20 points and 11 rebounds to lead a trio of Blazers in double figures.
UTSA kept the game close through the first half - but the Roadrunners were never able to mount a serious challenge after the intermission. UAB stretched their six point half time lead to a final margin of 13 points. Fahro Alihodzic added 17 points and Robert Williams contributed ten points. Rod Rucker and Jordan Swing both added nine points and Rucker also pulled down ten rebounds, just barely missing a double-double himself.

UAB head coach Jerod Haase was pleased with his teams play. "We had 23 assists and nine turnovers, I'll take that any day," he said.
UTSA outrebounded the Blazers 47-42, but the roadrunners only managed ten assists and turned the ball over 15 times.
The Blazers added seven steals and 12 blocks which helped stymie UTSA's offensive efforts. "We got a lot of blocks and when we didn't we kept the ball out of the paint," Haase said.
UAB will host UTEP Saturday night at 7:00 pm at Bartow Arena.
