UAB Overwhelms Hiwassee, 116-43

Robert Brown scored 20 points, one of seven Blazers in double figures, as UAB demolished lower division Hiwassee 116-43 Tuesday night at Bartow Arena. The Blazers led from start to finish in their biggest blowout of the young season.
The 116 points tied the Blazers all-time high for a single game. The mark was set in 199 against Houston.

Robert Brown opened the game with a successful three-point shot. That started an 11-point run before Hiwassee scored its first basketball. UAB had built up a 31-3 lead with less than ten minutes gone in the game.
The Tigers started hitting some shots after that. Still, with 7:04 remaining in the first half, UAB held a 41-13 lead. The rout continued, with the Blazers taking a 62-21 lead into the locker rooms at halftime,
The second haof featured more of the same. UAB led 83-30 with 13:25 remaining in the game. That lead had increased to 93-33 with 7:48 remaining.
Brown led all scorers with xx points, including 12 in the first five minutes of the game. Others in double figures were Hakeem Baxter (10), Chris Cokley (15), William Lee (10), Lewis Sullivan (12), Tyler Madison (13), and Tosin Mehinti (11). However, all eleven Blazers who played scored.
UAB improved to 9-3 with the win, its sixth in a row. Hiwassee dropped to 4-11.
The game was thte last for the team before the Christmas break. The Blazers return to action on Tuesday, December 29, when they host Stephen F. Austin at Bartow Arena, the second of five consecutive home games for the team.
